Well doesn’t that sound like I’m tooting my own horn, right? Honestly, I’m not that lean. And definitely not mean.
But compared to the pudgy, fumbling-for-words guy that struggled with the copy for his first ever products a few months back, I like to think I’ve come a long way.
Why should YOU be concerned with effective copywriting?
Simple. It sells.
“In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative, original thinker unless you can also sell what you create.” – David Ogilvy
Whether you’re writing emails, crafting a sales page or making an FB ad, effective copywriting is the difference between falling flat and making sales.
And unlike most other aspects of marketing, copywriting is extremely flexible. It’s a blend of art and science and the percentage you allocate to each is COMPLETELY UP TO YOU. Which makes it ridiculously fun!
My top tips for getting insanely good at copywriting?
#1 – Read sales pages and ads every day. Note the ones that compel you to continue reading.
#2 – Watch TV ads. Infomercials are an INCREDIBLE source of powerful copywriting ideas.
#3 – Get on a LOT of email lists. Pretty soon you’ll find only a very few marketers are able to consistently capture your attention. Learn from them!
#4 – Practice! It gets way easier with every piece of copy you write.
