Email Marketing Money-Making Formula

Email marketing is a tough nut to crack, especially when it comes to affiliate marketing. Not only do you have to get people to subscribe to your list, you also have to get them to open and engage with your emails.

Having a massive email list means absolutely nothing if people don’t open your emails. 

To be successful at email marketing, you need people to see your emails and WANT to open them. You need to stand out from the crowd!  How do you do this?  TRUST.  If people don’t trust you, they won’t buy from you.  How do you gain their trust?  CREDIBILITY.  Credibility is incredibly important for getting gaining people’s trust.

One of the pillars of success in business is credibility.

If you establish credibility, you earn people’s trust and when they trust you, they listen to your advice.  When it comes to email marketing, credibility is one of the most important factors of success.

You can start to establish credibility by keeping these two things in mind:

1.Stick to your word and make sure your word is never BS. 

If you say you are going to send a bonus, then be sure to send the bonus.  If you say you discovered the best training ever, then it’d better be true.  If you say something is amazing, and people buy it and see it’s not amazing, have you helped your credibility?  Don’t promote something you’ve never even used or looked at.

Once I received an email (from an up and coming affiliate marketer) promoting a training that I knew was horrible, so I replied and pointed out why the training was garbage.  The affiliate replied that he didn’t go through the training and had just mailed because he owed someone.  INSTANT UNSUBSCRIBE. 

Don’t get caught up in the whole “I’ll mail for you if you mail for me” trap unless you are 100% certain that the person you will have to mail for has consistently STELLAR quality products.  You can mortally wound your credibility by being pressured into mailing a crap offer.  Pick and choose the offers you promote wisely!

It may sound snobbish, but I won’t even mail for someone who I know mails garbage, because if my subscribers get on that person’s list, and get mailed rubbish, then I’m pretty much to blame for my subscribers getting garbage slung at them.

2. QUALITY BEFORE QUANTITY 

Quality is the spine of credibility.  If the quality of your content isn’t great, then it doesn’t matter how much of it you throw at people, they’re not going to open your emails.   One way to show your value (quality) is to OVERDELIVER.  Give people more than what they’d expect or ask.   The more free value you provide, the more people will pay attention when you have a paid offer.

Don’t give bonuses that you, yourself wouldn’t be happy to get.

How many free bonuses have you received that were complete garbage?  Probably most of them, right?  A lot of affiliates have a big stock pile of PLRs that they give away as bonuses when someone buys using their links.  I’d say about 90% of the PDF bonuses I’ve received were outdated and a waste of time to read.  Call a turd a bonus once, and no one will want your bonuses anymore.

Most of the people on your list are most likely on other lists as well, this means that you’re in competition for your subscriber’s attention, so never waste their time with useless bonuses.

If you focus on over delivering quality content, you are setting yourself up for long-term success.  If you focus on mailing lots of different affiliate offers every week, you’ll make short-term profit, and kill your list in no time.

When it comes to your email marketing strategy, there are many things to take into consideration depending on your niche.   Most people just start mailing with no real overall strategy in mind, and this is a big mistake.  You need to have an end goal in mind, so you know how to tailor your content to meet your goals.
